NSPCC / CHILDLINE assembly - SPEAK OUT. STAY SAFE.

9th Jun 2017

Mrs McCormick organised for the NSPCC to visit school on Monday.    It was an excellent assembly where both KS1 and KS2 heard about how they could keep safe.  Primary 6 participated in a workshop and Primary 7 will attend theirs soon.

Chris and Fiona told us about the importance of sharing with someone we trusted especially if we were worried about something.  They used the idea of a 'Bag of Worries' to help us understand how difficult it is to function while carrying around with us things that are bothering us.

The Speak out. Stay Safe programme is designed to help us understand that any form of abuse is not okay.

All of our pupils know who they can speak to in school if they are concerned or have a worry.  They also know that they can access the NSPCC website at www.childline.org.uk or speak to someone on 08001111.

In Newbuildings Primary School we believe that all pupils have :

  • The right to speak out and be heard
  • The right to be safe
  • The right to get help when they need it.
