SDG #6&14 - Clean Water - NI Water

Learning about Sustainable Development Goals

Today we were delighted to welcome NI Water into our classroom to educate us about water.  We learned about the water cycle and how water is cleaned and treated in our country for human consumption.  We also learned about the importance of looking after water, not polluting water and ensuring that we only flush what is biodegradable.

We found out that Newbuildings is one of the areas that needs to see an improvement in what we flush!  Never flush wipes as it is blocking our sewers in the village.

Finally we looked at how water filtration works by carrying out our own experiment in class.  we were amazed at how good sand was at removing dirt from water.

We all received a refillable water bottle and have pledged to  'REFILL FREE- CLEAN THE SEA'

More information can be found here - https://www.niwater.com/refill-free/

We need to think of ways which we can protect the environment and save our planet.
